We are a husband and wife team who work hard to bring our clients renovation dreams to life.
We listen to our clients ideas, needs and hopes and insert them into our carefully considered design plans.
From there, our experienced renovation team implements the design, and what was once an idea, becomes reality!
What you should know about us......
We live on and love Plum Island, which is one of the most amazing and gorgeous places in the world!
We service the North Shore of Massachusetts as well as Southern New Hampshire and Southern Coastal Maine.
We are born and raised in MA, and have lived in and worked on older homes for years. This gives us a clear understanding of the specialized needs of an older home. We have also spent a fair number of years living in small beach cottages on the Island and other areas on the North Shore. This has given us an amazing ability to understand how to utilize every nook and cranny in a home and how to fit everything you want successfully.
We are easy to talk to, friendly, and casual. We want to understand what is driving your desire to renovate, and how we can best help you achieve your goals. It is not unusual for us to become friends with our clients since we try to be as forthcoming and transparent as we can.
Instead of inserting a professional photo of ourselves, we chose to include some candid shots from the last few years showing us doing what we love the most. This was done in an effort to communicate to you who we are, how we live and what you can expect when getting to know us!
Kevin began his career in carpentry at the young age of 16. A family member owned a construction company at the time, and took Kevin under his wing as a carpenters helper. A few years later, Kevin found himself working for a carpenter full-time as an apprentice, and discivered how much enjoyment he got out of it. It was very rewarding to repair a home that had been forgotten about.
Kevin appreciates the feeling of accomplishment and reward when looking back at a project and remembering what the job looked like when he got started, compared to the finish. Installing new kitchens for homeowners, new bathrooms, removing walls, additions and installing new windows are major renovations to a home that improve clients daily life. Kevin always says a successful renovation will not only help you enjoy your home, but is also an investment in your future.
Kevin‘s wife Michele always talks about how Kevin is not only a carpenter and general contractor, but also has terrific design abilities. This helps them discuss projects and the design easily and efficiently as they speak the same language. Kevin is able to design in his minds eye before he begins the build. He doesn’t necessarily need a set of blue prints to follow when it comes to certain elements of a project, and that talent allowed him to start his own company about 15 years ago. In total, Kevin has been working as a carpenter for over 30 years. Kevin is an incredibly hard worker and credits his Dad, Tom Simone for his work ethic, as he lead by example. He taught Kevin from a young age how important it was to work hard and to do a job well. As Kevin and Michele began working together, he started to embrace and cultivate his design abilities, and realized it is a skill not every carpenter has. Kevin credits his Mom, June Simone with his eye for design. June always kept a very stylish home, choosing grasscloth wallpaper and a white sofa even though she had 5 children.
Kevin has the true spirit of an entrepreneur. He is self-driven, a real perfectionist and has integrity and pride in his work. Kevin even opened a successful personal training business for 5 years, while still working as a carpenter. The younger employees on our team have often marveled at his energy and motivation.
When Kevin is not working, he loves to spend time at the beach with his wife. He is a big football fan and enjoys rooting for the New England Patriots. One of his passions has always been cars. He favors classic cars from the 60’s and 70’s, and he has started a company called www.PlumIslandClassicCars.com where he finds, restores and sells the cars.
Michele has been a lover of interior design for as long as she can remember. As young as 8 years old, Michele recalls having strong opinions about the bedding and window treatments her Mom chose for her bedroom. And at 14 years old, she would use the money she earned at her after school job to purchase posters and small pieces of accent furniture for her bedroom.
Soon after high school, Michele met an interior designer and gained a firm understanding of what design is. Michele immediately enrolled in College and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in the Applied Science of Interior Design, and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Since graduating, Michele has never changed her career path and has worked in several types of design such as Hospitality and Restaurant Design and Kitchen and Bath Design. Her favorite has always been Residential Design. She has often commented how rewarding it is to go into a clients home and make permanent changes that affect their daily life in a positive way.
Michele is experienced and wise enough to know that design is not just choosing pretty fabrics and colors. Michele notes that many people have a good eye and can be considered good decorators. But being a great designer is something different. Great design is the creation of a space that is not only beautiful, but functions perfectly. Design should enhance your life and flow with your lifestyle. It will appeal to your senses while also helping you enjoy the time you spend at home.
Michele has been working full time as an Interior Designer for 24 years, and has watched the design world change dramatically. She has remodeled so many homes that she is now encountering clients returning for an update on a project she worked on at the beginning of her career. She has witnessed styles that were popular 25 years ago return and become popular again. She has hired sub contractors who she first met when they were young children of old employers or clients.
Michele has realized she has a true love for interior architecture and is currently working towards completing her masters degree in Interior Architecture with an emphasis on Historic Preservation. Interior Architecture allows for much more influence on a space than design alone, and living in New England allows her to work on many homes that are historic. Michele also runs her own Interior Design company separate from Simone Renovation and Design. It is called Michele Simone Interiors, and a great choice if you build or remodel is complete and now you are hoping for just Interior Design help. The website is www.michelesimoneinteriors.com
When she is not working on projects for her clients, Michele enjoys living on Plum Island with her husband Kevin. Michele loves the beach, and even enjoys the wild winter weather that comes along with living on a sandbar in the winter. Michele is a big football fan, and you will hear about her excitement for New England Patriots Football and Notre Dame College Football. She also enjoys amateur photography, and has a real love of animals and advocates for their ethical treatment whenever the opportunity presents itself.
